To be or not to be...

Not to be. I'm not getting away tonight. I was hoping I might be able to get away for a while by myself, but Brian's going to be gone again tonight. It's okay though, because he's hanging out with a friend who's getting all (yes I said all) his teeth pulled tomorrow. A group of them are playing Settlers of Catan. It's a very addictive game. I actually wish I was playing too, but it's a hard game to play when all the kids are running around. You need to be able to focus on the game.

Anyway, maybe later this week Brian and I can go on a date or something. We'll see...

The most beautiful boys in the world!

Here are some pictures of my boys:

Where does it go...

Funny how time flies...Brian's out of town again. Although he's coming home today. The house is a disaster, Luke is playing in the kitchen sink, Paul's watching Disney Channel, and none of us are dressed. It's 11:15 am. Actually I lied, Luke is dressed. He had been running around in just a diaper, but when it came time for him to eat breakfast he wanted to put on some clothes because he doesn't like to sit in the high chair naked (with a diaper on of course). I guess it's cold or something. Just a funny little quirk of a two year old.

What a lazy day. I really need to get up and go, or maybe I need some get up and go. Either way, here I sit. I'm watching Luke as I write this. He has pulled a chair up to the kitchen sink and....aaarrrgghhhh! I just realized he had a knife in his hand. I had to run and get it from him. Anyway he's washing the sink and some dishes with one of those sponges that has soap in the handle. He's making bubbles, and then blowing them. It's the simple things. I wish I could find that much joy in washing dishes. Maybe they'd get done more often.

Am I the only one in the world who's a terrible housekeeper? I mean it doesn't seem like it should be that hard. But I hate doing it so much. As I said before, the house is disastrous. I'd like to have it nice for Brian when he gets home. I doubt that will happen though. Somehow I always find other things to do.

Now Paul's on the chair with Luke. I know I'm going to regret letting them play in the sink. It only means that there's going to be another mess to clean up. And I was right. Luke has just spilled a whole cup of water on the floor. I'll be back....

Not so bad, it wasn't as much water as I thought. But, no more playing in the sink. Now Luke is torturing Paul, although I don't think Paul minds it. Actually he's torturing Luke just as much. It's funny how different they are. On one hand, we have Paul. The cerebral one, so serious for a four year old. However, he has so much imagination. He is constantly pretending to be someone or something else. For instance, the most recent thing is that he is a crossing guard. We made him a little stop sign and he has a whistle. He has a whole persona going. He is also inanimate objects sometimes. He loves trains, and railroad crossings fascinate him. So he decided he wanted to be a railroad crossing. Brian made him some crossing arms, and Paul becomes a railroad crossing. He keeps bugging us about getting him some flashing lights, but I don't see that happening.

On the other hand, there's Luke. There are no words to describe him. An imp maybe. You see the sparkle in his eye, and you know there's going to be trouble. So charming though, that people see this beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed boy who plays very coy when meeting new people, that they think he is a perfect child. Now I love my Luke-y very much, but I am the first to tell you that he is NOT the perfect child. He is stubborn, can scream like a banshee (sp?), and generally knows how to press all your hot buttons. He can be so sweet though. Right now he's sitting on my lap, leaning on my arm and watching TV. When he came up, he looked at me and smiled his charming smile and gave me two kisses for no good reason. Just because he loves me. That's what melts your heart.

Those are my boys...and they are my life. When Brian gets home, though, I need some time off. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I'm leaving the house. I love them, but I also need a break every once in a while, or I start to go insane.
